- Dr. Harry
Dr Harrison "Harry" Weisinger is one of Australia's few experts qualified in research, medicine, and optometry. Prior to studying Medicine, he had already completed his masters and doctorate degrees in Nutrition and Neuroscience. He completed fellowships at the Flory Institute of Neuroscience and the National Institutes of Health in Washington. He has dozens of publications to his name, including those in prestigious journals such as Science, Nature Medicine, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of the USA.
Dr Harry lobbied for and established Australia's fourth optometry program and currently holds professorial appointments at two leading Australian universities. He trained in family medicine, with a special interest in high performance. He has worked with world tour professional and masters champion cyclists, national champion triathletes, title-holding MMA fighters, Olympians, and AFL Hall of Famers. Dr Harry held national and global leadership roles at Specsavers, where his mission was to improve the eye health of millions of people through clinical advancements and technology. He worked directly with the founders of Specsavers, Doug and Dame Mary Perkins.
Now 54, Dr Harry has enjoyed 15 years of exceptionally good health. However, this came after two decades of serious medical challenges. He was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at the age of 18. He had some 40 hospital admissions and underwent two bowel resections. At 35, he was diagnosed with and treated for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He underwent a total hip replacement at the age of 39, and at 40 had a subtotal occlusion of his right coronary artery.
Overcoming these challenges fuelled Dr Harry’s commitment to building systems to help others. He now reads only non-fiction, knowing there's more knowledge available than what one lifetime of reading permits! Dr Harry's own track record in high performance, natural empathy, relentless drive to learn and understand, combined with his own experience overcoming serious health challenges, make him uniquely qualified to guide high-performing individuals.
As an athlete who has stood on the top step in Masters cycling championships, Dr Harry applies the same precision that rebuilt his own health to his extraordinary group of patients. Through My Performance Doctor, he delivers access, information, guidance, diagnostics, and interventions that extend healthspan and optimise performance.
He also co-created Kurk, a science-backed nutraceutical used by Special Forces and Olympians and endorsed by Tom Hardy, Lyndon Lea, Andrea Horwood, Bill Moss AO, and Doug and Dame Mary Perkins.
Dr Harry lives in Victoria with his accomplished wife Stephanie and is a father of four children. He's built his life around quality time with family and living with purpose — the drive that comes from knowing what it means to fight back and win, combined with a relentless passion to improve human health and performance.
